What: Introduction to Medical Trauma
A medical crisis can be a life-changing experience, whether it’s an unexpected ICU stay, a cancer diagnosis, or managing a chronic illness. Research has long noted the correlation between physical health issues and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This presentation will review signs of medical trauma, risk factors for developing medical trauma, multicultural and neurodiversity considerations, and treatment modalities for medical trauma and medical anxiety.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify signs of medical trauma in diverse contexts and populations
- Improve clinical skills when working with clients with medical trauma
- Utilize techniques for treating medical trauma in a culturally responsive manner
Cost: $10 for Student/Associate members, $20 for SBCAMFT members and $25 for all State CAMFT members and $30 for Non-SBCAMFT members (Join now!)
About the Presenter:
Victoria Rodriguez
Victoria Rodriguez (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Louisiana who specializes in health anxiety and medical trauma. As a PhD student at the University of New Orleans and adjunct instructor at Nicholls State University, she researches and presents on the theory-application gap in non clinical settings and creative interventions for trauma treatment.

Additional Notes Pertaining To Our Policy As A CE Provider:
1) This course has been designed for a mental health professional that include LMFT's, LCSW's, LPCC's, and LEP's. Also, Pre-licensed and Associate members may earn hours of experience for attending the Santa Barbara Chapter of CAMFT workshops as approved by their supervisor.
