Learning Objectives:
- Identify clinical diagnostics required for insurance authorization using the Bx=Sx=Dx Formula
- Develop effective treatment plans including the presenting problem, documenting progress and regression, and generating a treatment and discharge summary justifying transition and termination of services
- Identify and justify medical necessity criteria for frequency and intensity of various clinical services for third party payors
- Describe the legal and ethical parameters of clinical conceptualization
- Identify the most common clinician mistakes that lead to treatment disruption and claim denials for clients
Shane Bruce, LMFT, earned his Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2006. He spent 13 years in community mental health, including four years in leadership. He supervised clinicians using Medi-Cal and Department of Mental Health billing. For five years, Shane was Adjunct Faculty for Pacifica and Mt. St. Mary’s Counseling Psychology programs, and has presented on clinical conceptualization at CHADD’s International conference. In 2018, he published his first book, ADHD: A Heartful Approach. Shane has been on insurance panels since 2016, justifying medical necessity for his clients which requiring strong clinical conceptualization.
Additional Notes Pertaining To Our Policy As A CE Provider:
1) This course has been designed for a mental health professional that include LMFT's, LCSW's, LPCC's, and LEP's. Also, Pre-licensed and Associate members may earn hours of experience for attending the Santa Barbara Chapter of CAMFT workshops as approved by their supervisor.
