Educational Goals:
• To provide therapists with a much-needed model for reducing harm and supporting psychotherapeutic benefit for clients who may choose to utilize psychedelics outside of therapy
• To provide psychoeducation on fundamentals of benefits and risks of psychedelics for therapists in generalist practice
• To offer therapists specific criteria and structures for optimizing client’s choice to use psychedelics
• To provide an understanding of the nuanced psychotherapeutic relational dynamics in effectively supporting psychological, spiritual and emotional growth within this model including, application within intensive ongoing psychotherapy.
Learning Objectives:
• Participants will be able to identify four or more reasons why an approach of “Psychedelic-Supportive Psychotherapy” is essential to sound clinical practice in respond to client need within contemporary culture.
• Participants will be able to describe the legal and ethical constraints and allowances in integrating this approach within their practice
• Participants will be able to list and explain the primary segments of the arc of the model
• Participants will be able to name three essential components of a therapeutic relationship which might support client psychological growth and well-being through the arc of the process.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Elizabeth Wolfson has been a licensed psychotherapist practicing from an integrative, person- centered perspective several decades. Currently, she offers Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Psychedelic- Supportive Psychotherapy within her practice, is a mentor for the California Institute for Integral Studies Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapies and Research and is a consultant to Skylight Psychedelics. In addition to her academic degrees, her training includes Certification in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Research from California Institute of Integral Studies, MDMA Therapy Training from Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy from the Ketamine Training Center. Additionally, she is trained and certified in Embodied Leadership and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy. From 2020-2023 she served as Vice President of Clinical Services for Field Trip Health, an international Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy company. Prior to that, she was faculty and Chair of Antioch University Santa Barbara’s Clinical Psychology Graduate Program where she developed and directed programs in Healthy Aging, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Leadership. She previously taught at Columbia University School of Social Work. In her role as Clinical Director within mental health settings, she designed award-winning diversity initiatives and was project associate on two documentary films screened in international film festivals. Dr. Wolfson has also been Organizational Consultant to Pacifica Graduate Institute, is co-founder of two non-profit organizations, and served as Vice President of Professional Development on the Board of the NASW, Santa Barbara Chapter and as VP of Special Projects for the Board of Directors of Santa Barbara California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Dr. Wolfson has published and presented on Psychedelic-Supportive Psychotherapy, Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, creativity, intimate relationship, psychotherapeutic processes, trauma, gender, creativity, empowerment, and healthy aging. While her background includes multifaceted leadership positions, her current focus is supporting individual and group healing through psychotherapy and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy and providing consultation to companies and mentoring to practitioners.

Additional Notes Pertaining To Our Policy As A CE Provider:
1) This course has been designed for a mental health professional that include LMFT's, LCSW's, LPCC's, and LEP's. Also, Pre-licensed and Associate members may earn hours of experience for attending the Santa Barbara Chapter of CAMFT workshops as approved by their supervisor.
