Description (2950 characters max)
My clients often identify as overdoers, perfectionists, caregivers, people-pleasers, or misfits in their families and the larger world.
Many feel creatively frustrated or like they are not "plugged in" to life or are living according to scripts that have been written by others.
I can help you reconnect to your authentic self, rediscover your true voice, and unearth your unique story. If you are a writer, I can companion you through the layers of your personal story that may be calling for your attention to help inform your creative process in rich and healing ways.
I welcome individuals and couples from a variety of backgrounds and phases of life who are weathering a wide range of struggles, including:
Depression, anxiety, and overwhelm
Unresolved, chronic stress related to childhood trauma and hardship (Adverse Childhood Experiences [ACES]; parentified children)
Feelings of being lost, stuck, invisible, or pushed into the margins; those who are searching for their life's calling or a way to connect more
meaningfully with their lives and the greater community.
My clinical interests and special focuses include:
Grief and Loss
Ambivalence, confusion, or curiosity around one's identity as a childfree or childless person
Challenges around middle-age, elderhood, aging, and end-of-life concerns
My approach is inspired by a specialty in depth psychology and the works of Carl Jung. Depth psychology considers the strong influence of the unconscious, which is often just out of the reach of our waking awareness. Through the use of reflective listening and deep curiosity around the telling of your story, the unconscious is engaged in ways that can be integrated into a deeper awareness in the here-and-now.
I believe my work as a therapist brings me to my own personal edges as well, and it is my ethical responsibility to be dedicated to the continuous mining of my own internalized biases that result from living in systems of oppression.
I am a pro-choice, LGBTQIA+ - affirming, body positive (HAES), Gen-X therapist who is committed to bringing a racially and socially just framework into my work and personal life.
